Administration Department

Administration Department

The administration department is responsible for Town Hall reception and general clerical duties, property assessing, and public access TV coordination and programming. Department staff also provides support to the Building Department and the town's contracted Assessor.

The overall day to day municipal operations of the Town is managed by the Town Administrator, who is appointed by the Board of Selectmen.

Assessing

The primary purposed of the assessing process is to ensure that all property within the Town of Northwood is assessed fairly and in accordance with the New Hampshire laws governing taxation.

Finance Department

Finance Department

The Finance Department oversees all accounting, debt and cash management services for the Town of Northwood. Additionally it provides support services to the Town Administrator for preparing and administering the annual Town budget.

Fire Department

Fire Department

The Northwood Fire and Rescue Department protects approximately 4,000 residents in an area of 27 square miles. In the summer, the population nearly doubles. The Department has 35 members serving under the direction of the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, three Captains, and five Lieutenants. There is also a “support” crew and a fire explorers post.

The Highway Department maintains all Town accepted roads from repairing to snow removal. The Department also processes permits for any new driveways or any excavation on any Town right-of-way.

The Northwood Human Services Office provides assistance to qualified individuals for basic living needs in accordance with NH RSA 165 and the Town of Northwood General Assistance Guidelines and Basic Needs Policy.

Town Clerk/Tax Collector

The major duties of the clerk include preserving the town records, recording vital statistics, issuing permits and licenses, and acting as an election official. The Town Clerk registers all motor vehicles except off-road vehicles, motor scooters, and mopeds.
